You had me at “Come with me if you want to live”

Dear Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,

I admit I was very hesitant to watch you. To be fair, given Fox’s track record, you could have turned out to be something like Terminator: 90210. I was glad to see Summer Glau getting work, but was nervous that you would have lots of little John Connor mooning over the “Gorgeous but distant” Tin-(wo)man as he teaches her how to love and what it means to be human. You started off a little slow, but when Summer-nator plowed in to the most recent Kill-John-Connor-nator with a dusty old pick-up, threw open the door and said “Come with me if you want to live”, I was hooked. Sarah Connor is played very well, as ruthless and no-nonsense as the mother of the future savior of man-kind should be, but the real star is Summer Glau.

Summer-nator does an excellent job walking the line between efficient killing machine and “trying to learn how to be human”. She is becoming an excellent actor. While she did well in Firefly, its not all that difficult to play “over the top crazy”. She is showing a lot of subtlety in her acting. The scene where she tries to mimic the “tough Latina chick” next to her was hilarious and well played.

In closing, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I am glad to see you show up and I hope you continue to be entertaining.

Your friend,
B

Irony not in short supply on the internets…

This was spoken in a public channel on one of the games I play. It was the tail end of an argument:

‘umm cursing is the ignorance…shows a lack of vocab. otherwords ur a moron’

I don’t even know where to begin with pointing out how awesome that sentence is.  I’ll leave the analysis up to you, fair reader.

I’m taking Mike’s challenges

First challenge:34 At first I felt kind of bad about this quiz, but then I realized that if I was getting all Lord of the Flies-ed by a bunch of punks, I would totally throw down.

2nd challenge, the impossible quiz:

Impossible-Quiz.com

Its a pretty fun quiz. Definitely made me count on my fingers a couple times ;)

Twitterpated? Not quite.

You may have noticed a little “twitter badge” on the left hand side of this site. You also may have not, so take a quick glance to the left. See it? Good. A few months ago I noticed a few people using twitter, typically your usual suspects of tech/art/music hipsters trying to be cutting edge. Twitter is a little web application that lets you make quick little “real time” posts about what you’re thinking about. Basically a mini-blog in 140 characters or less.

I’m pretty sure I told Maryanne I thought it was stupid. Like anything, there are people who think its some grand experiment in social networking that will revolutionize the way we communicate. In those cases, I still hold it is stupid. At its simplest usage, Twitter is a fun little diversion to post notes to your friends (and whoever else is looking) throughout the day. There are some interesting interactions that go on. I had someone add me to the list of twitters they follow because I used the word disingenuous in a post. Kind of funny. If anyone is interested, you can either check the little badge on the left or go to the site directly. If you sign up, let me know.
